What is Himadri Hans Handloom & what kinds of products are available on

Himadri Hans Handloom is a socially responsible enterprise generating sustainable livelihood mainly for women artisans in rural & semi-urban areas of Uttarakhand. The range of handloom products presently available on Himadri Hans Handloom e-commerce platform includes:

  • Hand-spun & Hand-woven Shawls, Stoles and Scarfs in Pashmina, Merino, Superfine and Lambswool.
  • Handwoven Tweeds/ Running Fabrics (Merino, Lambs-wool, Pashmina, and Blends).
  • Hand-knitted Stoles, Scarves, Caps, Gloves, Socks, Blankets.

You can support this social-enterprise in two ways:

  • Whenever you buy an Himadri Hans Handloom product through our e-portal, you are providing employment of at least a day to maximum of three weeks to a woman-artisan.
  • The sales proceeds of your online order directly benefit these producer women (spinners, weavers, knitters) thereby eliminating intermediaries who generally keep a significant part of the margin.
Where does your raw material come from?

We only source fibers from socially responsible businesses with ethical practices. We procure various raw materials from different regions, preferably directly from the origin. The raw material is then hand processed and woven by women artisans at our weaving centers in Almora, Uttarakhand, India.

What is the total workforce involved in the production at the units and are they paid fairly?

Our main objectives is to empower women artisans from Uttarakhand and we are proud to say that currently we have around 180 people associated with us, out of which 90% are women. All employees are paid as per the Government Wage Act and they receive monthly salaries in their bank accounts. Along with this we also conduct fortnightly health check-up camps, support families for their critical medical needs through various partnership with Hospitals.

How do you ensure the authenticity of the fabric?

We procure raw material from partners who have respective certificates of authenticity and credibility. For further processes of production Himadri Hans Handloom has the certificates – ‘Handloom Mark’, ‘Craftmark’ and FairTrade. At the production unit, each and every process is observed and checked at every stage till the final product is out for sale.

How do I get order confirmation and further status?

Once your payment has been successfully made, your order is processed internally. Himadri Hans Handloom will send a confirmation e-mail for your order. You will be provided with an order number for your reference and a listing of the item/s you have ordered.

What should I do if I receive a damaged product?

At Himadri Hans Handloom we ensure that each and every product goes through a thorough Quality Check. However, should you receive a defective or damaged item we will be happy to replace the item or offer you an exchange should we be out of stock at the time of your request. We will accept its return in original condition, with all tags attached, within 30 days of receipt of your order. Any product purchased on can only be returned to Himadri Hans Handloom head office in Almora, Uttarakhand, India and cannot be returned to Himadri Hans Handloom Retail stores. Please see our ‘refunds and return policy’ procedure on how to return a product to us.

What types of payment do you accept?

We accept most of the Credit cards including Mastercard, Visa & American Express. Our payment gateway has tie-up with most of the banks for netbanking as well. In case you find difficulty, you may please write to us on We will be pleased to help you. All payments are processed through a secure gateway. Please note that we are a small social start-up and aiming to make handloom weaving a sustainable art and an earning source for the rural women. At this stage we will not be able to provide Cash On Delivery as a payment option. Inconvenience regretted.

Can I order the products from anywhere outside India?

We deliver products to about 1800 locations within India and to most of the places outside India. Please check the availability of delivery to your location on the website. In case your location is not listed, please write to us on and we will try to help you. All international transactions are subject to Foreign Policy of Govt of India. In case of any special duties, etc being levied, the same has to be borne by the customer.

For any Bulk orders or Wholesale inquiries, you are requested to directly go to the Contact Page on the website and click on Enquiry for Bulk Orders link. Our team shall get back to you ASAP with details like MOQs, Pricing. Etc.

Himadri Hans Handloom welcomes both B2C & B2B trade with Consumers and with Bulk Buyers, respectively. In case of trade with bulk buyers for wholesale purchases, the initial requirement is shared as a Trade enquiry, which usually includes the product details, approx. quantity and delivery dates desired. Based on the trade enquiry Himadri Hans Handloom can respond back to the Buyer and negotiate the terms; once finalised the final order can be placed by the Buyer. The Trade enquiry should explicitly spell out the details like product specification, quantity required, delivery terms, target price etc.

Can I return or seek a replacement against an order/ product already delivered?

The order delivered cannot be returned except in the following conditions:

  • The product delivered is completely different from the one ordered. Please note that minor color variations and weaving inconsistency are characteristics of a hand-made fabric. It is not possible for Himadri Hans Handloom to support the return/replacement requests for minor color variations or weaving defects by way of inconsistency.
  • The product delivered is in damaged condition.
